Clinical Analysis of Hentoperitoneuxn

Abstract
This study includes a clinical and statistical analysis of 91 patients of hemoperitoneum tre-ated at the Department of Surgery, Seoul National University Hospital during the period from June in 1968 to May in 1976. There were 74 cases of traumatic hemoperitoneum and 17 cases of spontaneous hemoperitoneum.
In 74 traumatic cases, blunt injuries were 58 (78.4%) and penetrating injuries were 16; (23.6%). Traffic accident was most common cause (28 cases) in blunt trauma and stab injury was most common (11 cases) in penetrating trauma. There were 40 cases of splenic rupture, 18 cases of liver injury, 13 cases of omentum and mesentery injury, 2 cases of pancreas and 2 others.
All of thetraumatic cases were treated surgically. (Table 6). In 18 liver injuries, the proce dure of operative hemostasis was variable. (13 suture with or without T-tube 2 hepatic artery ligation and 3 partial hepatectomy). One case of pancreas injury was done Whipple¢¥s operation and.the result was good. Postoperative complication was seen in 30 cases (40.5%). Respiratory and wound complication were most remarkable. Motality was 9.4%.
The rupture of primary hepatoma was the most part of 17 cases of spontaneous hemoperitoneum. Its prognosis was guarded and then the postoperative mortality was 7 in total-11 cases.
In 6 remained spontaneous hemoperitoneum, there were each one case of hepatoblastoma, hepatic metastatic leiomyosarcoma, leiomyomatosis, spontaneous rupture of spleen, acute hemorrhagic necrotizing pancreatitis and hemophilia.
